BAND
The Post Big 14 Piece Dance Bank is on a roll. If you didn't not get to hear us on the Commons at The Greenhills Pioneer Days Celebration, you will have an opportunity to hear this Groups at one or more of three up coming performances in August and September. On Thursday, July 13 at 7:00-9:00 pm, we will be performing as part of the Colerain Township Summer Concert Series at their Park on Springdale Road. This Park is located on Springdale Road about a mile west of Colerain Avenue. Next we will play for St. Columban Catholic Church in Loveland on Saturday evening, July 29 at 6:16-8:15 pm as they celebrate their 150th Anniversary with a Festival. Then on Sunday, September 20 at 7:00-9:00 pm, we will perform in the Nesbett Park Amphitheater in Loveland. The Loveland Park Concert Series Coordinator, who had recently heard us perform, added a special additional date to their Concert Series in order to have us perform for their community. Be sure to bring a folding chair for these concerts because most outdoor areas do not have permanent seating available for you.
The Post 530 Concert Bank will also be quite busy with the following concerts during the next two months. All of these are open to the public:
- At Manorcare at Woodridge in Fairfield on Mon, Aug10 at 7:00-8:00 pm;
- At the Greenhills Commons Gazebo on Wed, Aug at 7:00 pm for the Greenhills
Concert Series (bring chairs); and,
- At Twin Towers Retirement Community in College Hill on Mon, Sept 21 at 7:15 pm.
I would like to compliment the Post 530 marching band that performed in the Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony in Greenhills and the Independence Day Parade in Hamilton. Our numbers are rapidly getting smaller; but the band sounded really great at both parades. I hope you were able to see at least one of these events. We thank you for your continued support.
We are saddened to have to report some unfortunate band news. Jeff Evans has found it necessary to step down as Director of our Concert Band at the end of 2009 due to pressing business and personal reasons. For about six years now, Jeff has been our outstanding Director in every way and has been a valuable member of both the Dance Band and the Marching Band. We will certainly miss him immensely. By the same token, we thank him for all the good things he did for us and wish him well as he continues raising a family and working as a computer expert with the Kroger Company. We have started to search for a new leader.
